Michael Barnard has been making films, artworks, and music for over thirty years. He has published poetry and other writings in a variety of journals and books, including most recently an essay in the McGraw-Hill book "Wisdom from the East" edited by Susan Suntree.

For the past several years Michael has also been actively creating and exhibiting his unique photographic artworks known as "Photofields".

These photographic montage works are made with images he has taken during his travels around the world. Recent exhibits include one-person shows at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and at the Highways Gallery in Santa Monica. Michael was also recently a visiting artist at the Cornell University Art and Film Departments.

Michael graduated with a BFA from California College of the Arts in 1967 and an MFA from Ft. Wright College in Spokane, Washington in 1969. He went on to teach painting, drawing and modern art history at Ft. Wright until moving to New York City. He also showed his early film works at many universities, galleries and avant-garde venues such as Millennium in New York City.

His CD of solo guitar performance, "9 Rainbow Fields", can be found around the world in unexpected places. A 2nd CD of his guitar music "Field Music" is to be completed and released in 2006.
